Products I love: Foundation Edition

So I will be sharing a few items that I cannot live without! And this is one of them! Everyone wants a flawless face right? Well this will certainly help you achieve that! First, let me tell you a little about my skin and its history. My skin tends to be more on the oilier side but still has its moments of dryness. I have ALWAYS been acne prone (ugh!). I've tried about most acne medications and was on Accutane twice! For those of you who are lucky enough to not know what Accutane is, it is one of the strongest acne medications out there. In fact it is so strong you are required to get monthly blood tests to make sure it does not mess with your system! It also causes SEVERE dryness! That's when I fell in love with my favorite chapstick, more on that in a later post. So anyways, now that I am 27 you would think that I am acne free, but I still have my moments of breakouts. However, most people are really fooled by my makeup products and techniques to think that my face is somewhat blemish free. However, if you were to see me without my makeup on, boy would you be shocked!

The foundation that I wear on a daily basis is the Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation. It comes in about 25 different shades with different undertones to best match your skin tone. Now don't get me wrong, I love many foundations, but this is just one of my top picks as of now. I actually use this base on my clients when they opt out of the airbrush foundation.

Make Up For Ever is such a great line, I urge you to play around with all the products! It was founded in 1984 by artist and sculptor Dany Sanz. Always having an eye for color, she made a smooth transition from sculptor to makeup artist. Make Up For Ever really made it big with their HD Complexion line, because it gives a full coverage while still looking natural and not caky.

Here's why I love it:

  • It's oil-free!! And doesn't everyone look for an oil-free base?
  • 25 shades
  • medium to full coverage

Here's how I wear it:

I use this and stipple the base on until my whole face is completely covered and blended into my neck. Since I tend to get oily I dust some powder over to take away some of the shininess and also to give a little more coverage.

Stay tuned for some more tips and techniques on applying base! I will also share my morning routine with you soon!!

Bacara Resort Wedding

Here is another little gem of a wedding. Nancy and Gregg are from Manhattan, and both in the fashion/beauty industry. And boy did they represent the fashion industry well! Nancy wore a stunning Vera Wang gown with lace up Jimmy Choos, and Gregg had on a Tom Ford Suit. Both were such sweet, calm natured people. They decided to get married in front of all their friends and family from New York, on the beautiful beach at the Bacara Resort. However, the weather had different plans for them. There was a giant thunderstorm heading in! With the help of their wonderful wedding planner, Sonia Hopkins from XOXO Bride, they managed to completely switch up their plans with only hours before the ceremony. Of course this wasn't what Gregg and Nancy had envisioned for their destination wedding in California, but honestly you couldn't even tell they were bothered a bit! They were just loving the special day no matter what came their way. Nancy and all the bridesmaids were such a joy to work with, and did I mention they all had the coolest jobs ever!? Seriously, they all lived in NYC and owned or worked for some major fashion companies! I loved hearing all about it when doing their makeup. Enjoy some of the photos!

Originally, when we had done Nancy's hair and makeup trial, she wanted her hair half pulled back in a loose waterfall braid, and her makeup a dark smokey Kardashian style eye. So when we got there on the day of she had a completely different vision for loose beach waves and a really natural fresh makeup look. Can I just say how glad I am that she switched it! Because this beachy fresh look totally complements the whole wedding! LOVE LOVE LOVE

Heart stones

Welcome to the beautiful wedding of Allie and Matt. Everything about their wedding I absolutely LOVED. This lovely wedding was actually featured on Style Me Pretty! Allie and Matt's wedding just exuded their personalities and had a ton of meaningful personal touches! Allie's mom collected heart stones, rocks in the shape of a heart, and so in memory of her mom they scoured the beaches to find heart stones to use in the place of escort cards! AND the groom even hand carved everyone's names onto each stone. Such a beautiful detail with so much meaning.

Don't you just love the wedding colors and scenery?!

Allie was referred to us by a past Bliss Bride, Jen (she's the one on the far right in the bridesmaid photo). And Jen was referred to us by another Bliss Bride, Ashley. They have all been such a lovely, fun group to work with, we are so blessed by their loyal business to Bliss!

Hope you enjoyed this wedding as much as we enjoyed doing it! :)

Hello!! So I've decided it was time to modernize and start up an actual blog! I've been playing around with the layout for about a week, my way of putting off the first post, but now here it is! I'm a little nervous about doing a blog, but it will be a fun way to show all the Bliss adventures, weddings, and hair and makeup tips! I can't wait for you guys to see what we've been up to all summer!

Here's a little preview of what's to come:
