2013 Color of the Year: Emerald Green

Pantone, the world's leading color authority, has announced that the official color for 2013 will be Emerald Green. I absolutely LOVE this color, I'm so excited! Here's more about what Pantone has to say:

"Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity."

Products I Love: Foundation Edition Part 2

In the last Foundation Edition post, I hinted at this product:

I really love this Duo Mat Powder because it's really versatile. You can wear it like I do, over your base, or by itself. If you are looking for just a really natural, sheer coverage then this is it. All you have to do is put some concealer on any spots and under your eyes, then just dust some powder on a clean face using a powder brush. And there you have it!

Handmade Wedding

Now this is a handmade wedding, if I've ever seen one. Let me tell you a little bit about the couple (as much as I can remember anyways).

They originally met in Japan where both Ali and Ryans parents were working, at an English high school. They were in the same group of friends, but never dated. Eventually both families moved back to the States. One day Ali was out riding her bike, and almost got hit by a car! The guy gets out of the car, and who else would it be but her future husband whom she met years ago across the globe! They recognized each other and got to talking, one thing led to another and now I'm showing you their wedding photos! Crazy right? I thought that was the best "how'd you meet" story I've heard, and trust me I've heard a lot.

Look at their first dance! Such a fun, cute couple! They wanted their whole wedding to be just a fun party. Also, get this. Ali's bouquet is handmade from her mom's wedding dress!! Yes, you heard right. That means she cut up her mom's dress and died it to look like flowers. How creative can you get?!

Obviously when we met with Ali for her hair and makeup trial, she had a vision. A sort of sixties style, yet still modern. She showed us a few pictures, but still allowed us to come up with our own version of what we thought she was looking for, and she loved it! You can't really tell from the photos, but we put 2 full sets of lashes on her for a really strong dramatic eye.

Their escort cards were the little cheese and crackers that we all used to eat when we were kids. They just put stickers on them with everyone's name and table! And don't you love the ceremony programs?? Literally everything was handmade by Ali and Ryan and their friends. All the flowers you see, napkins, everything!!!

And this is probably one of my favorite ideas I've come across while working in the wedding industry. The RSVP cards!! SO FUN! They had ad lib cards that everyone sent back, hanging up so people could read them at the reception. I love that!

Hope you guys enjoyed this handmade wedding!
