Handmade Wedding

Now this is a handmade wedding, if I've ever seen one. Let me tell you a little bit about the couple (as much as I can remember anyways).

They originally met in Japan where both Ali and Ryans parents were working, at an English high school. They were in the same group of friends, but never dated. Eventually both families moved back to the States. One day Ali was out riding her bike, and almost got hit by a car! The guy gets out of the car, and who else would it be but her future husband whom she met years ago across the globe! They recognized each other and got to talking, one thing led to another and now I'm showing you their wedding photos! Crazy right? I thought that was the best "how'd you meet" story I've heard, and trust me I've heard a lot.

Look at their first dance! Such a fun, cute couple! They wanted their whole wedding to be just a fun party. Also, get this. Ali's bouquet is handmade from her mom's wedding dress!! Yes, you heard right. That means she cut up her mom's dress and died it to look like flowers. How creative can you get?!

Obviously when we met with Ali for her hair and makeup trial, she had a vision. A sort of sixties style, yet still modern. She showed us a few pictures, but still allowed us to come up with our own version of what we thought she was looking for, and she loved it! You can't really tell from the photos, but we put 2 full sets of lashes on her for a really strong dramatic eye.

Their escort cards were the little cheese and crackers that we all used to eat when we were kids. They just put stickers on them with everyone's name and table! And don't you love the ceremony programs?? Literally everything was handmade by Ali and Ryan and their friends. All the flowers you see, napkins, everything!!!

And this is probably one of my favorite ideas I've come across while working in the wedding industry. The RSVP cards!! SO FUN! They had ad lib cards that everyone sent back, hanging up so people could read them at the reception. I love that!

Hope you guys enjoyed this handmade wedding!

Bacara Resort Wedding

Here is another little gem of a wedding. Nancy and Gregg are from Manhattan, and both in the fashion/beauty industry. And boy did they represent the fashion industry well! Nancy wore a stunning Vera Wang gown with lace up Jimmy Choos, and Gregg had on a Tom Ford Suit. Both were such sweet, calm natured people. They decided to get married in front of all their friends and family from New York, on the beautiful beach at the Bacara Resort. However, the weather had different plans for them. There was a giant thunderstorm heading in! With the help of their wonderful wedding planner, Sonia Hopkins from XOXO Bride, they managed to completely switch up their plans with only hours before the ceremony. Of course this wasn't what Gregg and Nancy had envisioned for their destination wedding in California, but honestly you couldn't even tell they were bothered a bit! They were just loving the special day no matter what came their way. Nancy and all the bridesmaids were such a joy to work with, and did I mention they all had the coolest jobs ever!? Seriously, they all lived in NYC and owned or worked for some major fashion companies! I loved hearing all about it when doing their makeup. Enjoy some of the photos!

Originally, when we had done Nancy's hair and makeup trial, she wanted her hair half pulled back in a loose waterfall braid, and her makeup a dark smokey Kardashian style eye. So when we got there on the day of she had a completely different vision for loose beach waves and a really natural fresh makeup look. Can I just say how glad I am that she switched it! Because this beachy fresh look totally complements the whole wedding! LOVE LOVE LOVE
